Microlearning - The Future of Education

Education is a process that requires constant adjustments, in order to provide positive results. As a more recent learning strategy supported by the digital era, microlearning has gained a lot of attention.

Microlearning represents a focused, self-directed form of learning, with content delivered in small bursts.  With hectic everyday life, finding time for self-improvement may seem difficult. Everything is easier if divided into fragments. The brain can process information more effectively if they are brief and delivered to the learner at his request.

Microlearning provides various possibilities – from language learning to corporate training. It supports any form of learning content – from social media networks, quizzes and videos clips to presentations and book chapters. Moreover, it can be used anywhere – at home, in transportation, during coffee breaks.

Gradually building skills is especially convenient for companies, which can educate team members in this manner, instead of exhausting eight-hour training. Searching for the solution to a working problem on the internet can also be considered as a type of microlearning. This is especially important due to a declining attention span, especially among millennials. Training materials can be available online, interactive, constituted of 5-minute videos and tutorials.

Some of the benefits of microlearning are:

  • Boost of motivation – employees work more efficiently;
  • Time-saving – more time to focus on the projects;
  • Immediate results – knowledge can be used instantly;
  • Budget-friendly – most of the contents are free and available online;
  • Continuous updates – information change quickly, it is important to adapt;

Here, in ICodeFactory, we have organized learning in several different processes. We deliver full Microsoft Official training, our custom workshops, but also small lessons organized in a microlearning way. It is one of our favorite approaches that has delivered great results.

How do you arrange your learning system?

DIY Cool Innovations in ICodeFactory Team - 3D Printer

Every day is an adventure when you are an engineer, or if you have engineers in your team. They always come up with some cool ideas out of the corner.

Being led by the famous Albert Einstein quote „Creativity is intelligence having fun”, we always encourage our team members to nurture their creativity and implement their vision.

In the moment of inspiration, one of our colleagues who is a PhD student in mechanical engineering, has created by his hands a 3D printer! This was his passion project after work and he decided to spend his spare time to make something useful.

He had a demo presentation at ICodeFerence 2018 in Mokrin House, so we saw how the magic works from the first rows.

Just when we couldn’t be more proud of him, he made a little surprise for us - ICodeFactory logo in 3D shape!

For those who don’t know, ICodeFactory logo represents a factory of ideas from whose chimney comes out light bulb as an idea. Because of that, our colleague Bojan made an extra effort to blow our mind with surprise – he inserted a small lamp into the light bulb, so we really have “Eureka logo”.

Thank you, Bojan for this cute lamp. We like your curiosity, courage to try something new, attention to details and can’t wait to see your next mechanical project.

What is your passion project in free time?

ICodeFerence 2018 on the road – powered by ICodeFactory

Last year we organized conference named ICodeFerence under our roof at the Master Congress Centre. This year we wanted to make it more special and memorable for our employees so we put our minds to think out of the box and off our everyday beaten path and organized it on the road.

ICodeFerence, ICodeFactory, Mokrin House

We had an enjoyable Saturday at the Mokrin House. Beside our main goal to learn from the professionals in ICodeFactory, we had a plan to have some fun.

The topics we covered this year were from three completely different areas:

  • Our dear Ivana, Master of Science in Graphic and Engineering Design, told us about general guidelines and exceptions in making user friendly forms, and how are the forms one of the most important components of digital product design.
  • We had a very powerful session from our colleague Boško about Web UI testing automation with demo project which was testing our website.
  • Last, but surely not least presentation from our colleague Bojan, who is a PhD student in mechanical engineering, was about 3D printer made by his hands! We heard about tools, materials and techniques he used while making it. With so many fewer resources he successfully challenged himself to make functional 3D printer and printed us a little white ICF cube as a demo of his home project.

We started our yoga class very hilariously, but as the time went by we relaxed our body and mind. We can surely say that understanding connection between mind and body is easier while sitting at a desk and with a computer keyboard than combining stretching and breathing techniques.

Our second recreational activity was archery. First, we had a short introduction about archery and then we used bows to shoot arrows. It’s simpler to have instinctive shooting when you imagine your favorite bug as a target.

ICodeFerence on the road was such a great concept. Everyone had a fantastic time in Mokrin House, and hospitality we had in Mokrin was over expected. Thank you all for another great ICodeFerence event. We are already looking forward to organizing next one.
